International Day of The African Child

Today is Day of The African Child which is a day that was started in solidarity to all of the people that have been struggling to ensure that their children receive an education. Despite this, around thirty million boys and girls across Africa will be missing out on their rights towards receiving an education. Over two hundred of these children are the young schoolgirls from Chibok whom are still missing since they were first abducted from their school in north-east Nigeria. Around the world people have been organizing events called Youth Takeovers where they have demanded that all children have a right to education and to go to school safely. If you would like to learn more about Youth Takeovers and/or find where the nearest Youth Takeover is go to:

If you aren't able to participate in one of these events you can still help by spreading awareness about this day and how important it is for every child to receive an education.
